Behind the Curious Mind of Ferris Bloom - Chapters One and Two
Okay, 11th grade? Not the best year of my life. All those pointless "Oh, how I wish, I was in the eleventh grade already!" Comments are truly starting to irritate me. I mean, what do those freakish, psychos even know about that specific grade? Obviously nothing. Because the 11th grade isn't a "high school paradise" as most people refer to. It's basically the complete opposite.
Chapter One
Ferris
"Seriously, stop."
I drum my fingers against the smooth, wooden table again, only a bit louder this time. I grin at Linzee, who is sitting in front of me, obviously her facial expression the complete opposite of mine.
"Quit it!" She hisses. I notice that she tightens her grip on the green mechanical pencil that's in her fist.
I keep drumming.
She keeps glaring.
"Da-ad!" Linzee screams, then throws her pencil at me. I duck.
"Aha! You miss," I smirk.
Dad comes out from his room, his face looking drowsy and careless. "What's going on, kids?" He mumbles.
"Ferris keeps bugging me. I'm trying to do my homework but he keeps making noises and I can't concentrate!" Linzee practically spits at me. I laugh, not ready to show her satisfaction. Her glare deepens. I laugh louder.
"Now, Ferris..." Dad starts.
"Wait, but why get me in trouble?" I stand up from my chair and look Dad straight in the eye, "Every time I do my homework and Linzee bugs me, you act as if she's some sweet little angel or something!"
"That's because I am." Linzee winks at me and continues doing her math worksheet.
I groan. "Seriously?"
"Ferris." Dad places his hands over his hips, a gesture I learned that meant for me to quit arguing and to stop pestering my sister.
"Fine. Whatever." I roll my eyes and sit down again. Dad shakes his head, yawns, and heads back to his room.
"You're lucky that I didn't spill out your little secret yet." I murmur.
Linzee stops writing. She glances at me and raises an eyebrow suspiciously. "What 'secret'?"
"The one about you liking that kid. Vincent something?"
"You mean Vincent Alvarez?"
"Exactly." I'm the one who winks this time.
"Ferris, you better not..." Linzee rises from her chair, ready to fling her pencil at me again.
I rise, too. "Throw that at me one more time, I'll go to your school tomorrow and announce it to everyone."
Linzee mutters something under her breath, sits down, and starts working again.
I sit down, too, close my eyes, and smile. Finally, my sweet moment of satisfaction.

Chapter Two
I have it all good, really. The only thing that really bugs me is how people make fun of my name all the time. How I wish to change my ridiculous name. And what is my name you may ask? Kitty Powers. Ugh, weird, right? Yeah.

I slightly drag my feet to the floor, trying to stop my swinging. Fortunately, it does work. I am finally halted to a stop.
I pull out my red, crystal-covered touch screen and check for any messages. I have none, so I decide to send one to my best friend, Ferris Bloom.
ME: Hey, Ferris. Wanna meet up?
It takes him two minutes to reply.
FERRIS: Sure. Where?
ME: Green Valley Park... U know. The one that's like really close to your house.
FERRIS: Mk. Meet ya in a minute.
ME: kk.
I smile, smoothing my hands against the metal chains that hold on to my swing seat and balance my weight. I run my hand against my newly-dyed, eggplant purple hair, which used to be dyed jet black. I want to surprise Ferris with my slightly different look. I'm curious to hear his opinion.
I slowly start to kick my legs in the air, then swing them back. Kick, swing, repeat. Kick, swing, repeat. Kick, swing, repeat.
It instantly feels like I'm flying.
I laugh, catching a quick glimpse of my violet bangs flying over my eyes, then whipping back to the sides of my cheeks. I see a bright color of blue, which must be the sky, a dark shade of green and brown, which must be the trees...
An extremely bright light blinds me for a moment.
I drag my feet to a halt again, shake my head to clear up what just happened, and blink. My vision is still pretty blurry, but after a few seconds, everything seems pretty normal again. I notice that Ferris is sitting on the swing next to me, an amused look staining his face.
I redden. "How long have you been watching me?" I say.
"Not for long. Barely now, actually." Ferris chuckles, his lovely green eyes staring straight into mine, making me blush even more. "Uh, by the way, are you alright? You seemed like you were gonna pass out for a second there."
"Yeah, I'm okay." I rub my eyes and blink again. "As I was swinging, I think I stared directly at the sun, and I was blinded for a few seconds. But now it's all good."
A gentle breeze flies past Ferris' chocolate-brown locks. I feel my hair gently fly, as well. I flutter my lashes playfully and fake-cough.
"Ahem." I smile and flip several thick strands of violet hair behind my shoulder. "Achh-em!"
Ferris shows off his signature crooked smile, the smile that I truly adore, where the right corner of his lips pull higher than the left. How dazzling he is. It makes me jealous.
"Uh, Kit." Ferris chokes a laugh. "Would you like some bread and peanut butter on the side with that?" He cannot hold it any longer. He begins to crack up.
I laugh with him. "You're just jealous because I actually manage to look good with any color of the rainbow," I say playfully.
Ferris rolls his eyes. "And you are just jealous that I manage to keep my natural hair color without tempting to change it."
I stick out my tongue at him. He keeps laughing.
Ah, Ferris Bloom. My best friend. My only friend. That one person in this entire planet who truly understands me... And makes my spirits soar.
