Before You Rush Of for Your Job Interview

Before you go for your interview:

When you get the phone call saying we would like you to come for an interview, consider what things you might be asked by your potential employers. And attempt to be as natural as you can be, if you pretend to be something you aren't, people soon see through you. When you answer any questions on the interview answer honestly it's no good saying you have particular grades if you don’t, most businesses check.

What do you think you can give to the job?

Consider your positives and negatives. With strengths try not to appear arrogant with your answers, talking in the third person is a handy way of looking modest but complimentary in your answers "My friends tell me…..", "My work colleagues say that I'm…….". If you are asked about your negatives turn things into strengths by saying "colleagues tell me that I work to hard….." or "that I'm very meticulous……."

What are your reasons for wanting to work here?

After you have looked at their website or talked to someone that works there, you will know what about the business that you like and how well you feel you would fit in there. Saying that the business is the place you would like to further your career and would very much enjoy the challenge of the role.

If you are asked, why you are leaving your present role?

Don’t be negative about your present employer, this could make the interviewer feel you are a difficult employee. Use words like "ready for a new challenge" to let them know you are moving forward with your career.
