I remember back in the day, (about 4 to 5 years ago) when the idea of listening to a book on tape would make me sick. Mostly, it would when I was on vacation with the family and we were traveling hundreds of miles across the country. There were about 8 of us, plus, of course, grandpa and grandma there with us as well. We traveled in two trucks with two campers loaded on the back of them. What would be our entertainment during the long ride? Well, this was back when portable dvd players were too expensive for the normal person, and well who knew what an ipod was? A book on tape, yep that is right, a book on tape would be the source of entertainment during the long ride. It was not so bad with my portable cd player and my music, until it was my turn to travel with the grandparents. They also used a book on tape for entertainment, and because of hearing loss, not only could they hear it, but every time we stopped at a rest stop, (which was very often) everyone in the vicinity knew what was going on in the story plot as well. Therefore, the cd player didn’t come in handy during those parts of the trip.
