Beagle Paper Training May Not Be The Answer

Beagle paper training should be your last resort for housebreaking your beagle and your first order of business should be a check up by the vet to make sure there are no physical problems. Sometimes you can monitor and train your dog for 48 straight hours to housebreak them before you have to resort to beagle paper training.
One of the most frustrating things in the world when it comes to owning a beagle, or any other dog, is when the dog is having a problem being housebroken. The worst thing you can do is strike the animal and the other worst thing you can do is lock the dog in its pen when it is having problems going at the right time and in the right place. Patience is needed and a lot of it so take a deep breath and gather yourself.

Your first order of business is to make sure there are no physical ailments causing problems. The vet will let you know if your dog has any physical problems that could be preventing housebreaking. If there are no physical problems then you may have to resort to beagle paper training as a very last resort and it should only be used as a very last resort in almost any case.

Beagle paper training really is the last thing you want to do and there are a couple of things you can try to hopefully avoid paper training. The first is to take the beagle outside to the spot you want them to use every hour on the hour for at least forty-eight hours. If they do what they are supposed to do outside then you use positive reinforcement. After two days they should get the idea.

A second method as an alternative to the papers is to simply watch your beagle every minute for a 48-hour period. If they are showing signs that they are going to relieve themselves in the house then do not run at them, do not scream at them, and do not beat them. Simply walk up to the beagle and shout a simple one-word command like "No" and then take the dog to the spot you want them to use. When they are done use positive reinforcement.

If you have determined that beagle paper training is the only way to go then lay some papers in several layers in their favorite spot in the house. Use positive reinforcement when they go on the papers. Gradually move the area of the papers to the door and then start setting up some of the soiled papers outside making the available area inside smaller. Soon there won’t be enough room on the papers inside to go on so the dog will be asking to go on the outside papers. You still have not solved the problem of making your dog hold it until you get home and going on a specific place in the yard but at least they are outside.

This should always be a last resort, as it does not really train the dog to wait to go outside. It only trains the dog to go on papers outside. Don’t forget that you still have more training to do after they start going on the outside papers. When you clean up the papers always leave some soiled papers in the new pile so they know to use them.
