Be My Valentine - Chapters 2 and 3

Picture of just ONE part of the arcade. I am ending this story.
Thanks for the comments. I was only getting started with the first chapter. The second one should be more descriptive. All I ask is some reasonable criticism. I love the "this story is awesome" because yeah I do like hearing that my stuff is good, however I do love the "well..." comments. I like that extra kick in the butt if you know what I mean. Please ignore the fact that I'm a female writing a guy's POV, I try my best. Well, ENJOY!

Part One - The Date

Wyatt's POV

Tonight I take Melody to an arcade at the mall. I swear on my wallet to buy her anything she wants and win her any toy she likes. She texted me her address and I jumped in my black Ford Fusion. My rims are black and my base kicks butt.

I don't know how a sweet girl like Melody could take it in, so I turned off the stereo. I also wore a nice clean look with my shaggy medium length black hair pushed away from my eyes. My blue button up shirt and dark jeans were not dirty and spoke respect in any way I couldn't. As I walked to the door of this large house, I was blown away at the beautiful garden that wrapped around the garage and front porch.

I knock on the door and a small boy about nine years old answers the door with a frown. "You're not pizza!" He screams and I laugh along with an older man who dismisses the young boy. He sizes me up and smiles, I assume it's Melody's dad.

I smile back, "Hello, I'm Wyatt Santino." I hold out my hand and he grabs it and gives a firm shake. He seems very friendly.

"Nice to meet you Wyatt! I'm Melody's father; you can call me Mr. McSwagg!" I bite my lip to keep from erupting with laughter. Melody comes from behind her dad with such a red, embarrassed face.

"Oh my GAWD, Dad! You really need to stop telling my friends that or I will never have anyone over ever again!" She squeals, and pushes me back some. "Let's go Wyatt!"

"Calm down, Melody. I was only joking. She overreacts way too much. Wyatt, you can call me Dan." As much as I hate calling adults by their first name, if I don't know them personally, he seemed like the type of guy that wouldn't like being a Mr.

"Oh okay, thanks Dan! We are going to the arcade at the mall. When should she be home?" I yell while Melody pushes me to the car. He just shrugs and waves us off before shutting the door. I open the passenger door for Melody before getting in the front seat. Instead of climbing in the passenger seat, she rounds my car and puts her hand out. "What?" I ask.

"Keys!" She starts to bounce, a little too excited for what I thought she would be. I, seriously confused, give her my keys and she gets behind my steering wheel. After a while she realizes I'm still standing at the passenger door. What just happened? "Well? Get in. Unless I'm just going to steal your car and go to the arcade by myself."

I climb inside and just look at her, while she pulls off. My car...

*****************************************************************

We get to the mall, and I'm kinda mad she still has my keys. Okay, so sure I'm not usually an angry guy, but still. That car is everything to me. My rims, my base, my car... My sweet girl. She's pretty damn new. Melody is a great driver but... she took my keys. Maybe, I'm over reacting, but, hey, that's my car.

I come out of my pout when we enter the psychedelic, booming arcade. I can't tell you what it is about playing lame games and dancing to the sick beats in this place, but if you ever even walked passed the place, you feel like you just got sock in the face by awesome itself. I look over at my date, who is surprisingly (almost) dragging me by my arm. I pull back on my arm, which catches her attention.

"What's wrong?" She looks lost. I didn't realize what she was wearing or how beautiful she really was until now. Her hair, a honey blonde and cut just to her shoulders but layered just right for her curls to not be wild. Her eyes were spotted with gold but stretched to a crazy blue that gave me the chills. Her long blue dress, that matched her eyes, draped over her silky legs. Her lips, I don't even remember what they look like because all I know now is that I'm... kissing them?

"Oh. Oh Jeez, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. I wasn't thinking. You just look so amazing and I just-" I feel her lips silence me and I feel so... complete. Just me, her and this kiss. She pulls back and I open my eyes and just stare at her. I have no words at this point. I don't even remember what I was going to say. "Um, I don't know what I was going to say."

"Keys?" She stuffs them in my pocket. I tilt my head at her. "You were pouting in the car. Is this arcade okay? Kinda bright and loud." She smiles; oh, wow, what a perfect smile. I shake my head, oh crap what did she say?

"I'm sorry, you're just so pretty. I kinda blanked out." She frowns. STUPID! She probably thinks I'm just here for her body. "I'm sorry. You probably want to go home, don't you?" I stare at my feet and move to the side of the entrance, to see where she goes. She just lets go of my hand and pays for a game card. Well, there goes my chance...

I play a few games beside her and after an hour one of my favorite song comes over the speakers. Call me lame for liking it, but I'm dancing and humming to Around The World by Daft Punk. I turn around and stop with my jaw hanging when I see Melody dancing her butt off. I stare at her. Wow. She looks at me starts with her neck and rolls down to her ankles. She smirks at me and I close my mouth. I grab her hand and show her one of my signature moves.

Tongue hanging out of her mouth, she screws up her face. I lift my chin, as if to say, "Like you can do better."

"Nah uh," She bites her lip and starts with her eyes. They dart back and forth for a second then as the words repeat "Around the world, around the world..." Her knees bent and her body floats on her toes. She places her fingers at her hips. Her hair sways as her head moves around. Then her shoulders, her chest, her upper half, around her hips, her knees, and last her ankles.

She snaps her head up and her gorgeous eyes lock on me. My lips part and I'm struck. Silence takes over me and I can't even move. Words can't find my mouth but they continue to float in my head.

Hips can't lie
I see that now
But I can't move
No way, no how
Her eyes hypnotize me
And suddenly
I can't breathe
I can't see.
She is all I know.
She's all I know now.

Part Two - Waking Up

I open my eyes as warm breath crawls across my face. Melody is so close, I can’t help myself. I grab her chin and pull her into a deep kiss. I can feel her give in to me and her cold fingertips lay themselves on my collarbone.

I release her and she slaps me. "You’re a jerk!" She’s crying. I get up and pull her into a hug, but she tightens even more. "Don’t touch me! You really can’t get me by pretending to faint!" I fainted?

"Huh? Melody, what happened? How long was I-"

"I’m going home!" She pushes me away and runs right out of the door. I smack my head against the floor.

"OW!" Well, now I know I’m awake. And, I screwed up. Big time.

Getting off the floor, I feel a small hand grab my wrist to help me up. I follow the arm up to a pretty sweet face. Her eyes were dark and mysterious. Her face said innocent but her hair was choppy and long. Her overall appearance was a mysterious, innocent, but rebelling. Her voice was just as innocent and sweet as her face, "Are you okay?"

I gave a smug reassuring smile, but she wasn’t convinced. Her grip on my arm tightened, I had forgotten she still had me. I looked at her with a raised eyebrow, "What?" It came off meaner than it was supposed to, but I really needed to run after Melody.

The girl gave me a disgusted look before letting go, "I’m May by the way." She saw my eyes dart to the entrance. "Go get her," she sighs. I do a small skip before I bolt after Melody. What the hell was that all about? Whatever… Melody, I’m so sorry.

There’s this form hunched over, curled around itself. It's just breathing against the curb outside the mall. Honey blonde hair drapes over knees and fabric is lain across the sidewalk. I sit beside the beautiful lump. I don’t say a word, just look at her.

"I’m not crying if that’s what you think," Melody looks at me through a hole between her hair and shoulder. I didn’t think that. All I was thinking was how to fix this. "I’m not some precious fragile jewel. Everyone thinks that. I overreacted in there. I just… I used to have a brother. Another one, older. He meant a lot to me. His eyes couldn’t track fast movement, and I used to do ballet. He went to my concert one time and I had to do spins across the stage all the way to the other curtain. I had to get to the other side as quick as possible, his eyes didn’t work that fast."

I could tell in her voice that her throat was tight. She wanted to cry, but it seemed as though she didn’t have any tears left. "He got so dizzy that he fell to the floor. I was only seven at the time, but I was so close to him that even though he was at the back of the room and I was instructed to never stop dancing, I felt his fall. I stopped immediately and leaped off stage, to his side. There was a big dent in the wall, and this weird red water covered the wall and floor. I didn’t understand blood. It was new to me. Then I felt this complete emptiness come over me. A rush of wind hit my face, I knew it wasn’t really there, but it was. My brother seemed to smile at me. He wasn’t really dead until that night in the hospital, but after I felt the empty nothingness when I touched his bloody head, his spirit was gone."

"How old was he when he died?" She winced at the word "died." I felt terrible.

"Seven. He was my twin, but he was my older brother." I understood. I gently touched her back, then she jerked into my lap and choked on her breaths. Yet, she could not cry. I kissed the back of her neck then she said, "I saw you on the ground and it scared me."

"Your dancing was just so amazing, it struck me so hard I guess I couldn’t take it. I’m sorry I scared you." She looked up at me then pulled me into a deep kiss. Maybe her brother’s eyes weren’t slow. Maybe he just thought her dancing was just too amazing for him to take in. Maybe he just couldn’t believe that was his sister.

She calmed down then we went back inside. I was patient when she was slower. In the end we combined our tickets and got a giant tiger for her and a 1950s Cadillac toy car model. Gotta love my cars!

We hop in my Fusion and she turns on the radio. I nearly rip her hand off to turn off the volume before it kills her ears. "Hey! What’s wrong?"

"Loud."

"So?" She searches through my CDs and finds one with a ton of dubstep on it. I sink into my seat as she turns up the volume. She’s going to hate it. Once again my mouth cannot stay closed, she’s bobbing her head to my kick-butt base! This. Is. So. My. New. Girlfriend.

I smile at her and take her home. When we get to her house she pulls my ear to her mouth, "I got a secret."

"What?"

"SURPRISE!" She pushes me down, kisses my cheek then bounces to the front of my car. I get out and grab her hand.

I laugh with her and say, "You’re amazing, do you know that? Um, so do you wanna go out again?"

Her mother came outside and grabbed her arm. "Who said you could leave in some strange boy’s car?!" Her mom is red as any person I have ever seen. I thought I saw smoke come from her forehead but I might’ve been imagining it.

I didn’t get my answer until I was lying in bed about to shut my eyes. My phone buzzed under my pillow. I opened up a message from a mysterious number, "YES! *Melody*" I woke up the next morning, smiling like I was when I fell asleep.

Chapter 3

Ending to Be My Valentine.

*****************************************************************
I am ending this story. Thanks for the comments though. I do not feel like I should continue, so I am ending it. Thanks. Maybe I will start another one, but I do not know.

*****************************************************************
"Hello?" I ask into my cell phone.

"Hi, this is Mrs. Jansen. Please do not continue to speak with my daughter. We are moving into a protected house. Kidnapping my daughter will be the worst mistake you ever made. That will be all. Thank you." The voice of her mother brings me the chills.

"What the hell?" I say after she hangs up.

*****************************************************************

It’s been four or five years since I last saw or heard from Melody. I assumed I would go to court for being accused of kidnapping, but last year I researched the Jansen family. It turns out… There are no such people. What the hell?
