Basics to Search Engine Optimization
A quick description of basic SEO (search engine optimization) intended to be used for novice business owners.
Okay… for those of you who have heard about SEO (search engine optimization / person who performs search engine optimization), but aren’t too sure about what exactly it is and have absolutely no concept of how basic SEO begins, this article may just help you.
For conducting the most basic steps of SEO, it doesn’t matter if you live in Arizona and are attempting to do Tucson SEO marketing or Phoenix marketing, there are two main focuses that an SEO must assess when determining a course of action: (a) onsite optimization – work that needs to be performed on your website that needs to be friendly to the search engines; (b) off site optimization – work performed on third party websites that benefits your website.
Basic on site optimizing is fairly straight forward and consists of: (i) creating appropriate page titles and descriptions pertaining to the content; (ii) create original content that is of high quality and usefulness to your visitors; (iii) organize content by utilizing H1 and H2 tags and anchoring relevant terms as contextual links to call attention to main pages. If you can figure out what has just been described to you, then you are pretty much set as far as beginning your on site campaign.
Now for all practical purposes, offsite optimizing is simply the accumulation of backlinks (links on other websites that lead to your website when clicked on). This is also commonly referred to as link building and consists of many, many different approaches. The easiest and safest ways to build links is done by: (i) exchanging links with websites that provide similar services, or provide comparable products; (ii) find blogs relevant to your business, and that allow you to insert a URL in the comment form (preferably dofollow blogs); (iii) write unique articles that discuss your line of business and submit them to article directories; (iv) join forums and submit links back to the main pages of your site in the signatures; and (v) submit your website URL, along with a description, to internet directories.
There it is. If you want to begin conducting minor search optimization for your business, you now know where to start. Once you get started on the basics, you will quickly begin learning how to increase your effectiveness, in regards to making your website more appealing to search engines with quality content and when building links. Plus, you will find that you can handle more tasks and do them quicker as you become more efficient.
