Barack Obama's Jobs Forum to be Held in December

The United States President, Barack Obama, announced that a job forum will be held in December. Here's more on this...
President Barack Obama along with U.S business leaders will hold a jobs summit on 3rd December, at the White House. The aim of the forum is to discuss job creation and economic growth of the country, the White House said on Monday. In a brief statement, the President stated that though the jobless claims figures released showed positive signs, but his Government will take further steps, and devise ways to combat unemployment. This forum would include chief executives, business owners, financial experts and others.

Obama said, "We have a responsibility to consider all good ideas to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country. I am looking forward to hearing from the private sector, from CEOs and small business owners and from Americans struggling to make ends meet on how we can work together to create jobs and get this economy moving again."

After the forum, the President is likely to embark on a "White House to Main Street Tour" in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which will be spread over a few months. The main objective of this tour is to assess the situations experienced by the Americans during this hour of economic crisis, and respond to their concerns before the mid-term elections in 2010. Though the Republicans have criticized Obama's economic upliftment plans, and feel the stimulus package would be too expensive, but according to the White House, the discussion would focus on how to raise the employment process, and not on a second stimulus package.

Though after the Great Depression, the U.S. Economy has grown again, but unemployment is still a concern. For us, it remains to be seen whether Obama's good intention turns around the US economy.
