Banna - Chapter 4

Part 4 of Banna.....
She spent the rest of the evening getting to know the O' Sullivans and was pleasantly surprised to discovered that she genuinely liked them with the exception of Shay. There was something about him which made her uncomfortable. And that something had nothing to do with the way he kept looking at her all night long, or his confidence, which also annoyed her. He was goodlooking, too goodlooking for his or her sake, and he knew it. He was also very charming despite the comment she had made earlier. But no matter how goodlooking he was, there was something which annoyed her about him, the way he made it so clear that he didn't trust her.

She yawned slightly, and stood up. "Thank you very much for tonight. I need to get home now." she smiled at them.

"What? Come on Banna. Stay for a while longer." pleaded Celine.

"Sorry. I have alot of work tomorrow and I'm really tired," said Banna, "Maybe I'll get to see you again sometime."

"What do you mean 'maybe'?" demanded Celine. "I'm gonna pop by your office every single day."

"No, definitely not at work. People, at Charisma especially, are horrible gossips. They'll start asking questions and the whole thing'll turn into a nightmare." said Banna.

"She's right Celine. I'll give you her address though." said Max grinning at her.

"Thank you, for your very useful contribution Max." she said, grinning back. "But I really need to get home now."

"Okay. Do you need a ride?" he asked.

"No, thank you for offering though. I've actually got a date with the subway." she said. smiling at him.

"How come you never let me ride the subway dad?" asked Celine, pouting at her father.

"Because, you can get mugged sweetheart. Banna, you're not getting on that subway you know." said Patrick, his face looking firm and determined.

"Thank you again, Celine. You guys really love interfering in things don't you? It's safe. Trust me. Everyone takes the subway. It's perfectly safe. You're not normal if you don't take the subway. Unless you're a member of the O' Sullivan family of course. Thank you for a lovely evening, it was a pleasure meeting all of you. Good night." she took her coat and was surprised when Shay followed her out the door and opened the passenger seat.

"How do you expect to get home if you sit on that side?" she asked, trying to irritate him.

"Get in the car before I put you in there." he said, not at all amused.

"No, the subway's right there. Me have to get in subway to get home. Me oversleep if me not go home which make me late. And me get fired by Miranda if me late to work tomorrow." she said.

"I will put you in there if you don't get in there yourself, Banna." he growled.

"Bye Shay." she said.

He marched over to her, picked her up and put her in the car. He then got in and drove away.

"What the hell was that?" she asked, visibly fuming, in a manner not unlike her brother's noted Shay with a slight grin. "I should sue you for manhandling AND sexual harassment."

"Both?" he asked, clearly amused by her reaction. "Look, you're my best friend's little sister. I don't want you dead because, for one, they would be devastated. They've grown fond of you. And besides, I kind of enjoy it when you're rude to me." he said, grinning.

"I'm not rude. Don't call me rude. You're being rude." she said, trying her best to seem offended.

"Well yes, everyone knows I can be kind of rude. But you know, I enjoy it when you're rude to me." he said, shrugging simply.

"Just like that? I enjoy your being rude to me? You were picked on as a child weren't you?" she asked, turning to face him for the first time, and trying her best not to stare at him. 'Why does he have to be so damn hot? It'd be alot easier to look at his mouth and absorb the words coming out of it if his lips weren't so full and- focus!' "I'm sorry you were saying?"

He smiled slightly at her, happy to know that he had somewhat of an effect on her and that it wasn't entirely one-sided. "I was saying," smirking slightly, "That no, I was not picked on as a child, not that it would really make a difference." he said.

"Actually, it would make a huge difference. Child psychology 101. Kids who got picked on when younger tend to get amused by ridiculous things as adults. That and they have inferiority issues and try to be better than everyone else." she stated.

"Child psychology?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Double major, international journalism and child psychology." she said.

"Wow. I really am impressed" he said.

"See? I told you, you weren't the only who got an education." she said smirking at him.

"You're right. I'm sorry. I was rude to you when I shouldn't have been." he said, looking pleased with himself.

"Okay."

"Just okay?" he asked, incredulously.

"Yep. Well, I'm home. Thanks for the ride." she said. She gave him a questioning look when she found him following her. "Uh what are you doing?" she asked.

"I'm gonna take you upstairs." he said. He walked behind her, doing his best to not let his gaze wander below her waist. When she reached her apartment, they both stopped.

"Thank you." she said.

"It was no trouble." he said.

He grabbed her forward on impulse and kissed her. She was surprised and he felt it, but she started to kiss him back, placing her arms around his neck. She broke off suddenly.

"No." she said.

"No?" he asked, trying his best to recover from the kiss.

"No. Just no. Good night." she said. She went inside and locked the door, leaving him outside, confused and disbelieving.
