People's Republic of Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) is bounded by India and Burma. Its capital is Dhaka. Mostly agricultural, enjoying rich farmland, Bangladesh gained independence in 1971. It is one of the world's biggest populations and the fastest-growing country.
