Balloon Twisting Tips and Tricks
If you want to gift your child a smile this birthday, read this article to find some effective balloon twisting tips and tricks.
When you want to learn about balloon twisting there are few basic things that you have to remember. The pencil-shaped balloon, which is normally graded as 260, is the main balloon used by twisters. Some balloon artists use only the 260-balloon grade since it gives you more scope and space to try out things. You can make actually everything out of this balloon. The gradations vary in sizes, that is their diameters, different widths and lengths but almost the same shape. There are other shapes that are also available and are used for twisting like Rounds, Geo-blossoms, hearts, bee-bodies and slim-jims.
General Tips for Balloon Twisting
- Though these balloons give a scope and are flexible enough to twist and turn, they are very hard to blow up with the mouth in the correct way. It is much easier, better and safer, to use a hand pump. There are pumps available in the market, which are only used for inflating balloons.
- Whenever you inflate a balloon, leave about four inches of space uninflated at the tail end. As the balloon is twisted, some air gets squeezed into this uninflated part of the balloon. If this space is not left, the air inside the balloon would be under intense pressure and that might also lead to the bursting of the balloon.
- While you are twisting, hold the nozzle end, working towards that part of the balloon, which is uninflated because with every twist some of the air is passed down towards that space. Hold it till you get the shape, as you wanted it.
- Once the balloon is inflated, pinch the balloon just a little below the nozzle and let off all the air from the front part so that it is easy to tie it.
- The more twists and turns your design has, the more space you should leave uninflated.
- Always start twisting the balloon from the nozzle end so that the air inside gets pushed up and fills the uninflated space.
- Also twist in the same direction and twist and each and every bubble that you make for at least four times, if more than that is not possible. Always be careful about the first bubble until it is secured or is followed by other bubbles.
Once you have done the basic inflating of the balloon, fold it about six inches from the nozzle, then squeeze both the parts of the folded balloon about two inches from the fold and then twist the balloon in a circular motion at the point where you squeezed it. The twist would be stable once you have rotated the twist twice or thrice. So now you have made the ears of the dog or whichever animal you are making if you look carefully, the short end with the knot and nozzle has become the nose, or muzzle, of the animal. The legs of the animal are made in the same way as the ears were made. The balloon is folded an inch below the twist that formed the ears and then it is twisted in a circular motion which would form the front legs. Ultimately if you fold the balloon two inches away from the twist that formed the front legs, and twist the balloon in a circular motion again, it would form the hind legs.
This is the basic way to form an animal by twisting the balloon. By using the above-mentioned tips and tricks you will certainly be able to make an animal, once you do that you will definitely have an idea using which you can venture out to make newer and better things.
