Bald Eagle Commemorative Coins
The first Commemorative Coin Program of 2008 will honor the American Bald Eagle Recovery effort. The United States Mint will produce three different coins in limited quantities.

Specifically, the program will honor the recovery of the Bald Eagle species, the 25th Anniversary of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and the importance of the Bald Eagle as the national symbol of the United States of America.
Public Law 108-486 has authorized the United States Mint to issue three Commemorative Coins. The coins will include a $5 gold coin, $1 silver dollar coin, and clad half dollar coin. Each of the coins will be offered in either proof or uncirculated finish and have a limited mintage.
The $5 gold coin depicts young bald eagles in their natural habitat. The coin also includes an image of the Great Seal of the United States as engraved in 1903. These coins will be limited to a maximum mintage of 100,000 coins.
The $1 silver dollar coin depicts an eagle soaring through the sky. The coin also includes an image of the Great Seal of the United States of America that was used between 1782 and 1841. These coins will be limited to a maximum mintage of 500,000 coins.
The clad half dollar coin depicts new born baby eagles in a nest. The coin also includes an image of the Bald Eagle Challenger with the American flag flying in the background. These coins will be limited to a maximum mintage of 750,000 coins.
