Backyard Pools Now Have Luxury Feature Options

Inground pools these days have a plethora of features that will surely delight the entire family!
Numerous options now exist when considering designs for a backyard pool. The traditional swimming pool is now replaced by a swimming haven. In California, you can see the cutting edge pool designs that are including features like waterfalls, natural rock, infinity edging, or gradual beach entries. The latest of these luxury additions in pool construction is the topic of this article.

Infinity Edge Pools

The "infinity edge" is one of today's most coveted and visually fantastic pool features offered by California pool designers. Infinity edge pools are so named because one side of the pool is even with the water level in the pool. This feature is also called a "negative edge". Water is pumped back into the pool after it cascades over the edge and is held in a catch basin. You will be awestruck when you see that your pool appears to be "floating" above the landscaping and view of the yard.

Waterfalls, Fountains & Other Water Features

The thing that makes a quality pool stand apart from the others is the attention to detail in its design. Your backyard should be interesting and beautiful by including a swimming pool that is more than functional. You can help to accomplish this effect by incorporating a water feature, such as a waterfall or fountain, into your pool's design.

There is an enormous amount of water feature options. A raised spa that spills over into a pool below, is common. Other dramatic elements you could use to make a statement are: a fountain that emerges from a step or shallow pool, spouts that arch water across the pool area, or a babbling rock waterfall surrounded by foliage and landscaped areas.

Rock Features

The design for your pool can be greatly enhanced by using natural and/or man made rock.

Your options are extremely varied. You can use small pebbles covering the face of a wall or deck to large boulders lining the perimeter of the pool as elements. Rocks will, with out doubt, be included in a waterfall design. Using rocks in any way adds a breathtaking natural beauty and a quality of tranquility to your backyard. You are really only limited by your imagination, when it comes to incorporating rock into your swimming pool design.

Beach Entries and Baja Steps

Most entrances to swimming pools used to follow a familiar pattern that led into the "shallow end" of the pool via three or four small steps. To give the pool a more natural aspect, many owners are opting for a "beach entry", with its slope that, like a beach, begins above the water and gently descends underneath to the bottom.
A "Baja step" is a feature some pool owners are also making a part of their pool. This large rounded step, that is located just below the water's surface, allows the sun worshipers to lounge without being totally immersed.

Gunter Walderon is a successful business executive and when he researched out the best swimming pool builders in California for his estate, he found California Pools. He did site visits to several of their inground pools and was very impressed with the workmanship of the sculpted gunite pools and spas.
