Autopsy Reveals DJ AM had Oxycontin Pill in his Throat at Time of Death
Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, died after ingesting numerous prescription pills, including OxyContin, which was still in his throat when he died.
The initial autopsy findings in the death of DJ AM were revealed to the Associated Press by a source who is familiar with the case. In addition to the OxyContin pill that was found in his throat, there were also at least six additional pills that were still in his stomach and undigested. Officials found a crack pipe and several prescription pill bottles throughout his apartment as well.
At this time, there appears to be no evidence of foul play, although it would not be surprising if speculation of suicide began to surface. With such a large number of pills in his system, it would seem unlikely that he was attempting to achieve a specific high, although it is impossible to say at this point what exactly transpired just prior to his death.
Unlike the Michael Jackson situation, there was no doctor present at the time of his death, so one would have to assume that no one will be charged with murder in this situation. That said, anything is possible in the celebrity legal system, where prosecutors and defense attorneys get a chance to bask in the spotlight for as long as a given investigation and trial last.
Goldstein had been very open about issues he faced in the past, including addictions to crack, ecstasy and other drugs. He had filmed several episodes of a reality series for MTV entitled Gone Too Far. The show covered DJ AM staging interventions for drug abusers with the help of their families.
