Auto detailing is an important aspect of car maintenance. There are several different factors affect that have to be considered while you put in your car at the mechanic's place for auto detailing. Prices of detailing both, exterior and interiors of a car, depend on the level of detailing and the cost of equipment or materials used.

What is Auto Detailing
As mentioned above auto detailing is a touch up and cleaning process, wherein the whole car is cleaned up, polished and some value adding features, are put on to the car. The detailing process however does not include the care and service of mechanical and auto parts such as the engine and gear box, or for that matter any automotive component. Interior Detailing Cost
The interior detailing involves four basic processes: vacuuming, washing, polishing and touch ups. The vacuuming basically does not cost much but polishing and touch up require a lot of cash. The washing involves the use of carpet shampoos and special wash solutions. The interior washing will require about USD 80 to USD 100. In case if it is really big, then you might also need to pay a sum of money as large as USD 120 to USD 150. You may also opt for a package that gives a thorough wax polish to the entire car, inside out. It will definitely increase the cost by about USD 20 to USD 50. In case of leather interiors, you will have to pay about USD 50 extra.
Exterior Detailing Cost
The exterior is a bit cheaper than the interior touch up as there are only few functions that have to be taken care of, namely the tire cleaning, wash and polish. In case of a larger vehicle, more charges are levied. On an average, a car wash will cost you about USD 7 to USD 10 and about USD 20, for larger cars. The polish wax on the exterior surfaces will invite another USD 50 to USD 60. The tire cleaning will cost something between USD 20 to USD 50.
On the whole, you might require somewhere between USD 100 to USD 300 to get your car detailed. These prices are basically estimates that will give you a brief idea about the breakdown of the detailing cost sheet. These prices are subject to changes from time to time and from region to region.
