Authority Versus Power

Talking to my friend the other day she said that it seems that Satan is stronger than God since the evil one is able to do so much harm to our world. Well, if you look at the surface of the situation, it does look hopeless with all the bad things happening around us but is it because

Has God lost His power? Let’s see what happened:When God created Adam and Eve, they had free will and the good God had put them in a wonderful Garden of Eden providing them with all they needed to be enjoy life. However, the fact that they (and us today) had free will was used by God’s enemy, by Satan, to deceive. Satan had no authority over mankind and he had to come with a trick to get it. Note that Satan did not want man’s power, he wanted the authority man had over Satan because once he got the authority, he automatically got the power as well.

To emphasize this idea imagine that your best friend’s daughter is a police officer and let’s say you parked your car where you shouldn’t have and she gives you a fine. Now, she might not be stronger than you physically nor older than you but if you tell her:"Hey, what are you doing? You can’t fine me! I knew you since you were a baby!" Well, all that won’t count because she can show you her police officer identification to show the authority the state has already given her. She is a police officer, consequently it is appropriate that she applies the law.

This is what Satan did, he tricked man into giving him the authority over mankind. God created man with free will and authority over Satan but "the old serpent" as the Bible calls him, deceived man and now Satan has authority over man.

God however had a plan to bring back the authority Satan had over mankind. This is precisely why Jesus Christ came, to free us from the bondage of the evil one. Jesus Christ was the Only one capable to do that because He was not and is not infected with sin. Note how the devil tempted Jesus offering Him all the kingdoms of the earth if only Jesus had worshiped Satan. Jesus was God and man in the same time and He did not fall in Satan’s trap thus making possible the salvation of mankind to the perfection state God created people in the first place. Jesus Christ is also called "the Second Adam" because unlike the first, Jesus resisted Satan and is now able to offer free salvation to you and me, to all the people who believe what God did for them at Calvary.

It was a huge price paid, a price we could never pay ourselves, God Himself had to intervene for us in a way that would still keep Him working in justice and yet offer a way out from sin and death. God Himself died for us, paid for us.

It is serious business, we are not talking about religion we are talking about facts, verifiable truths that will save us or condemn us the day we meet our Creator. Jesus Christ is unique in the history of mankind, He is the Only one who defeated death and knowing Him, understanding and accepting His authority is the only way out for us. Jesus Christ is the only way we can get out from Satan’s dominion over us. It is a powerful truth!

It was never a question of power in the conflict between God and Satan. God has got all the power but if we choose to remain under Satan’s, who is to blame? People were deceived to come under the evil one’s authority thus changing the authority God had in them and consequently the authority people had over Satan.

Today you can get back what Satan has stolen from you, because Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life and this is the very reason He came into the world. He will come again "…and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory." Matthew 24:30

Don’t wait until that day…it is too late, but ask God today, we never know if we’ll have tomorrow!
