Its like an explosion of tastes on the tongue, what am I talking about? Thai food quite obviously, with so many flavors and tastes, and lets not forget the sensations and smells of Thai food.Here are some popular authentic Thai food recipes:

Tom Kha Gai - Thai Chicken Soup with Coconut Milk
Ingredients:
  • Chicken Stock or broth – 16 ounces.
  • Kaffir lime leaves, shredded – 5.
  • Lemongrass crushed slightly – 5 pieces of 2 inches each.
  • Galangal sliced fine – 1-inch cube.
  • Fish Sauce – 4 tablespoons.
  • Lime juice – 2 tablespoons.
  • Chicken breast, diced – 4 ounces.
  • Coconut milk – 5 ounces.
  • Red Thai chili peppers, crushed – 8.
  • Coriander or Cilantro – for garnish.
Preparation:
  • In a pan head the chicken broth along with the lime leaves, galangal, fish sauce, lemon grass and limejuice. Stir till it comes to a boil.
  • Next add the chicken and coconut milk and chili pepper. Let it boil again.
  • Set the heat on low and let it simmer for a few minutes allowing the chicken to cook.
  • This soup can be eaten as it is or can be served with Thai jasmine rice.
Gaeng Khiao Wan Gai – Green Chicken Curry
Ingredients:
  • Chicken, boneless and diced – 6 ounces.
  • Coconut milk – ½ cup.
  • Water or chicken broth – 1 cup.
  • Thai eggplants – 4 ounces.
  • Kaffir lime leaves, shredded – 6.
  • Thai basil leaves, fresh – 1 tablespoon.
  • Fish sauce – 2 tablespoon.
  • Palm sugar – 1 tablespoon.
  • Oil – for cooking.
  • Green curry paste (ready made) – 3 tablespoons.
Preparation:
  • In a pan, stir fry the curry paste with a teaspoon of oil.
  • Next add the coconut milk and stir well, cook till you notice a fine layer of oil on the surface.
  • Next add the chicken and rest of the ingredient (not the eggplant) and cook well. Bring to a boil, or till the chicken starts changing color.
  • Now add the eggplant and let it cook well.
  • Can be served with steamed rice.
Pad Thai – Thai style fried noodles
Ingredients:
  • Chantaboon rice noodles – 8 ounces.
  • Garlic, finely chopped – 6 cloves.
  • Shallots, chopped – 2 tablespoons.
  • Shrimp, cooked – ½ cup.
  • Fish sauce – Ό cup.
  • Palm sugar – Ό cup.
  • Tamarind juice (made with tamarind concentrate and water) – ½ cup.
  • Egg, beaten – 1 medium.
  • Chives, chopped – Ό cup.
  • Bean sprouts – 1 cup.
  • Tofu, diced – ½ cup. (Marinated in dark sweet soy).
Preparation:
  • Add oil to a wok and heat; next add the garlic, shallots and stir-fry. Allow the shallots to become a golden brown.
  • After this add the rest of the ingredients except the eggs and bean sprouts and stir fry till the noodles become soft. As you are cooking the noodles keep adding water.
  • Slowly pour the egg and beat it into the noodles till it is shredded.
  • Next add the shrimps and bean sprouts.
  • For the garnish, take a bowl and in it mix the limejuice, tamarind juice and fish sauce. In another bowl add the chopped chives and ground roasted peanuts. Sprinkle these on the cooked noodles.
