Atonement

He committed the offense.
I am doing the penance.
It is atonement of that sin;
In which my involvement is not even tip of a pin.
My life has come to a standstill.
Away from family, it is absolutely dull.
Cruel is this game of fate.
It is separating me from my son and mate.
I am awaiting our union’s horizon.
This ugly turn is time’s treason.
It has plotted against my honesty and integrity.
Alas, this is its act of futility!
My sincerity is invincible.
Defeat of my principles is impossible.
He committed this crime out of greed.
I played no role in this deed.
My people care for my welfare.
They want to keep me away from this warfare.
For how long…………?
They will not answer wrong.
Answer is evading them.
My return is awaited by them.
Only ‘hope’ is keeping us well.
Good time will arrive is what they tell.
Right people may be tested.
By justice, they will never be deserted.
