Ashton Kutcher Defends Michael Phelps

Ashton Kutcher comes to the defense of Michael Phelps and the photo of him smoking a marijuana bong. Kutcher used the micro blogging site Twitter to rant about the media's bashing of Phelps.
It's hard to believe that Ashton Kutcher has become an elder statesman of sorts for young Hollywood. It's true that he's been around for quite some time and that his wife is much older than he is, so maybe he is sort of qualified to speak out on the Phelps issue. Kutcher was recently burned by using Twitter to complain about one of his noisy neighbors, but this time he used the forum to come to the defense of Michael Phelps, in the aftermath of the publication of a photo of the Olympic hero smoking from a marijuana bong.

Kutcher was quick to point out the obvious, asking readers to consider what their 20-year old children may be up to when they are out with their friends. Anyone that has ever been young and attended college parties understands that marijuana is a part of that scene. That's not to say that it's alright to partake or that there shouldn't be negative consequences for doing so.

Phelps certainly knew what he was doing when he put himself into that situation. It almost certainly was not the first time that he has done so, even though it will be his last if he has learned anything from the experience.

Kutcher was pretty scathing with his comments, mostly directed at the media and at the person who took the now-infamous photo. "I’m not saying it was a smart move. But he doesn’t need to be publicly outed for it. Who ever put the pic out is an a--!", Kutcher ranted. "He’s a good kid. BTW he could be a real douche but he’s not. Maybe the media can quit dragging his d--- in the dirt."
