Ashes Fall Like Rain

When life seems to be at its lowest, out of the shadows a new love is born.
Ashes fall like Rain,
Intensifying a most sacred pain,
The pain of love now wholly given
By the bearer or the driven

The love of one not understood
By the other who only could
Reject this love and seek another,
Killing inside her former lover

Now shadows cast across his soul
Never again will he be whole.
He walks alone down ruined streets
Ashes of life lay at his feet

Wandering ‘round the world alone
Like a lonely leaf, wind blown
‘Till he finds his isolation,
A complete escape from devastation

Seeking comfort from the life
Now overcome with pain and strife
Looking to the shadowed walls
From the depth a shadow crawls

The shadow now, in full sight
Is not a shadow, but another life
A girl he sees who’s lonely too
Then he sees what they can do

No longer bound to pay the toll,
Since together they are now whole
Side by side they feel no pain
And Ashes cease to fall like Rain.
