Ash

Her breath, as subtle as the wind...
The words I dreaded most to hear
Flew across the sea and back
To rest their malice upon my ears.
And, like a dying autumn leaf,
They split my heart in two,
They split my world in two.
That day, that day which I vaguely remember
She simply took my life away.
She looked at me, her eyes so sweet and tender
I, yet to realize what was on her mind
I smiled and laughed and then I knew it...
It was over and she: no longer mine.
So now, I sit and ponder to the heavens
Once again deceived by life...
Wondering if there's anything that I could do
To possibly go back to a happier time.
