As Strange as Fiction: Kidnapped?

The third part of As Strange as Fiction: Zach wakes up and realizes that he's been kidnapped by the school gossip columnist, Gen. What is really going on?
Hello everyone! This is the third part of my quirky story. I hope you still like some huge surprises! Thanks so much for your comments.

Do you know that great feeling you have every morning when you first regain consciousness and it seems that the world is okay and that you have no problems whatsoever? For the 1st minute I opened my eyes that morning, I felt it. Until I finally remembered everything.

"I’m only chasing after you, ‘coz they sent me…to kidnap you." The black-haired girl had said. And after those words, I distinctly remember some sort of struggling involved with me on the losing side. Finally, she managed to cover my face with a cloth. Well, at least I’m not yet dead, I thought. I tried to observe my surroundings as best as I could. I was in a room with a small bed, a cabinet, a lamp, a huge poster of some rock star from the ‘80’s, and a really ugly t-shirt still in its hanger on the wall. It all seemed pretty much ordinary.

I remembered the last time I was kidnapped. It was my 8th Birthday and my nanny, Lalaine, and our gardener, Fred, decided to kidnap me. I lived in their small apartment for 3 days before the cops finally found me and arrested them. I actually kind of enjoyed the experience because it wasn’t as bad as they showed on television. It was huge back then. The son of a rich tycoon, kidnapped by the exact people who took care of him at home. The things that they actually took out of the story were the fact that Lalaine and Fred were pretty much really good people, besides the whole kidnapping thing of course. They didn’t really hurt me or whatever. They just let me play inside that room with dozens of toys and Lalaine even taught me how to play scrabble. It was one of the greatest memories of my childhood experience.

Now, you’re probably thinking of how weird I am and that these things could not happen in reality. Well, this is my reality. While other people enjoy quiet walks with their dog in the park, I can only walk inside the premises of my own landscaped garden. And while other guys would date anyone in their school if they wanted to, my parents had to check the financial status of every girl I was interested in. And so, these kidnapping deals are pretty much part of my life.

What was most bothersome of course was the fact that I had no idea why Genevieve Larson, the school gossip columnist, would be interested in kidnapping me. A lot of ideas came to my head. First, that she was in love with me in a stalker kind of way and wanted to keep me all to herself. Oh, scratch that, she did say she didn’t like me. Second, that she was some weird assassin/ spy sent to kidnap me for maybe a couple of million dollars. That was possible, I guess. And third, that she was just an ordinary girl who wanted money to pay for tuition allowance. I was in this train of thought when I heard voices approaching the room.

"I can’t believe you brought him here. I told you, I don’t want to have anything to do with whatever weird things they’ve asked you to do. "I heard a man’s voice say. "But I need your help. I just need some time to think of what else to do. They don’t really know where you’re staying so they’ll never find out that we’re here." I heard the distinct voice of Gen, my black-haired kidnapper. "I don’t know…" the man said. "Please, please, please… We’re gonna get out of here tomorrow, I promise!" Gen said. "Alright, alright… just promise that you’ll get out of here before Lily comes home tomorrow." He finally said.

The door opened up to reveal Gen, in the black t-shirt she was wearing the night before, minus the beaded necklaces. The man she was talking to managed to slip away before I could see his face. "Hi Zach… Good morning…" Gen said with a smile. I really didn’t know how she could still smile after kidnapping me. She may be crazier than I thought. I didn’t even try to answer her. "I’m sorry for this… I just… I don’t know how to tell you this…" she stammered.

"Why? Why did you do this?" I asked her. She looked at me as if to plead for her to not say it. I just looked away. I wasn’t that good at being nice to people, even if they cried in front of me. "Just tell me so I know the reason…" I carefully said. "You don’t understand. This is a lot bigger than you and me. I can’t tell you without hurting other people." She said, almost crying. "I just need you to give me an idea of what’s happening." I got around to saying. "Okay, this is the truth." She said then took a seat beside me in the bed. "There are people who are after your dad. They wanted me to kidnap you to get to him." She explained.

"So where are these people?" I asked, everything becoming clearer now. "They’re not here, Zach. Actually, I managed to escape them and I got you out just in time." She said with a slight smile. "What do you mean?" I asked. "When they asked me to kidnap you, I managed to always pretend like I was getting closer to doing it. And last night, they thought I’d lead you to them. But I couldn’t do it Zach… It was too much already. So, I rescued you." She explained.

I just managed to look at her. I had so many questions, but I didn’t know how to ask them. So, I shut my mouth and thought of a plan.
