Artificial Grass Installation

Artificial grass installation is a great way of water conservation. It looks as good as natural grass and is easy to install too.
Artificial grass, also called artificial turf is basically a synthetic kind of grass. Initially, it was mainly used in the sports arenas like soccer, hockey, golf and many such games that are played on grass. Now, along with the sports grounds, the artificial putting or the artificial grass is used for many purposes, commercial as well as residential. Today, artificial grass is used for custom landscaping, backyard putting, playgrounds and community parks, schools, roadside walkways, and many more!

The biggest advantage of artificial grass installation is that it does not need constant watering, weeding and patch working those bald spots of the grass. Yes, it is surely a skill to install artificial grass but with the proper knowledge about how to install artificial grass, one can easily install artificial grass.

Preparation
With the global concern of water conservation, many are now replacing their existing real grass with the new durable artificial grass. First, it has to be kept in mind that you can perform do this on your own and you don't really need professional artificial grass installers. This way your installation will get cost-effective as well.

Primary step for the installation of artificial grass is, removal of existing real grass (if any) and clearing the ground. You can use a sod cutter for the cause of removing the older grass. You will also have to remove the debris and the caps of the existing sprinkler system. Now remains the most important step for artificial grass installation and that is to buy the synthetic grass!

Assess and measure the exact area on which you are going to install artificial grass. You can use a steel measuring tape for the cause. Make an estimate of the grass that is needed. You can easily get the artificial grass of your choice in any hardware store nearby. Along with the synthetic grass, you will need a steel tape, crushed granite, carpet knife, seam tape, artificial grass adhesive and notched adhesive spreader.

Installation Instructions
Here are some easy instructions that will provide you with a step by step guide on how to install artificial grass.
  • Unroll the artificial grass and make it straight. Do not forget to mark out the area where the other lengths will be placed. Check out for the correct breadth as well. Repeat the procedure with the second roll and set it next to the first one. Use a carpet knife to cut the seams in between the two rolls.
  • You will have to glue the seams of the rolls with seam tape and artificial grass adhesive. Make sure that the gap between lengths of two rolls in not more than 4mm. Now, invert edges of both the rolls. By doing this, about 60cm to 75cm of the ground must get visible.
  • The key here is to apply the exact amount of the artificial grass adhesive. Apply it on the seam tape and not on the first two lengths of the grass. Spread the glue by using the notched adhesive spreader.
  • Press hard at the back of the artificial grass carefully onto the spread out adhesive. Once you place the artificial grass, check for the seams and make sure that they are stuck well. If not, you can use some more adhesive to glue them down.
  • Cut the grass into the desired shape and clean all the grass remnants off your artificial grass.
An important thing is the base of the artificial grass, make sure the base on which you will put the artificial grass is leveled. If not, then you can use crushed granite, sand or gravel and make sure that the base is firm and leveled.
