Arthur
A short trip through the annuls of Arthurian legend.
She brought an apple from the isle,
She held it in her hand,
She gave to me her secret smile,
That I may understand,
The sovereignty of kingly deeds,
The rule of iron law,
The glory and the majesty,
The pride before the fall.
I brought the feuding tribal chiefs
Under my command,
I brought chivalry to the creed
Of each and every man,
'Twas I who forged the sword from stone
To stake my place as King,
While Merlin made the future known
In the prophesies he brought.
We fortified at Camelot
And made our justice there,
I took a wife and gave my heart,
Her name was Guinevere,
She held the beauty of an angel
But her heart was full of sin,
Her adulterous deeds were cruel,
She left my options thin.
At the hands of Merlin's mistress,
Within the magic of a spell,
Cast by the evil sorceress,
My laws sunk into hell,
I ordered that my bride be burned
For treason to the crown.
Into my melancholy pride I sunk,
The pride of duty done.
In order to redeem my sins
We set out for the grail,
The quest to find the Fisher King,
Alas, to no avail,
The grail remained elusive,
The land was laid to waste,
The search was unconducive,
Failure would be our fate,
Beneath a moon of silver,
Mordred's army marched o'er,
Intent on bloody murder,
To take Excalibur,
Upon the fields of Camlann
Where we came face to face,
A final battle, hand to hand,
Combat of the brave.
The clash of steel and armor
Wrung out its deadly wail,
Blood was spilled like ne'er before
As many brave men fell.
The dragon breathed his fiery breath
Across the valley below,
I sent the traitor Mordred to death
But felt his mortal blow.
Oh take me to the lakeside shore
Where the lonely maiden waits,
To ferry me to Avalon,
This lady of the Lake,
She will heal my mortal wounds
With the spirit of her love,
As Merlin wrote within the runes
He placed upon the Tor.
She held it in her hand,
She gave to me her secret smile,
That I may understand,
The sovereignty of kingly deeds,
The rule of iron law,
