A $1,000 bench warrant was issued for LaBeouf Tuesday after he and his attorney failed to appear in court on an unlawful smoking charge. He was given a citation last month for smoking in a non-smoking shopping area in Burbank, California last month. The bench warrant was cancelled after his attorney showed up in court on Wednesday on the actor’s behalf. LaBeouf’s attorney Michael Norris entered the not guilty plea and a pretrial hearing was reportedly set for April 24.
This is not LaBeouf’s first run-in with the law. In November he was arrested on a misdemeanor trespassing charge after he refused to leave a Walgreens in Chicago. LaBeouf, 21, was reportedly intoxicated at the time of his arrest and refused to leave the store despite being asked several times by security guards. The charge was eventually dropped after the drugstore decided against proceeding with the case.
In April the actor gave an interview about how he didn’t like to go clubbing saying, "I have no compulsion to do it. It seems like a cheap thrill. It seems stupid." A few months later and he changed his tune and began showing up all over the club scene. LaBeouf got his real big break on the Disney Channel show Even Stevens. He has also starred in hit movies such as Holes, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Constantine, Transformers and Disturbia. Next up he can be seen on the big screen in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opposite Harrison Ford.
