Are Your Wheels In Need of a Car Care Makeover?

So you think your car may be in need of a car care makeover; if you think so, you are probably right. If you are like most people out there you probably put your car through a lot; between commuting back and forth to work, between pleasure outings, vacations, and running daily errands you put your car through a great deal in both the physical aspect and the mechanical aspect. You can hire a mechanic to make sure that your car stays in sound running condition, but what about the outside?

Some people out there can afford to take their car to get detailed every other week or so, but most people are either not that fortunate or not that frivolous with their money. Either way, a car care makeover may be in order—and you are just the one to do it. At this point you are probably thinking that you have no idea how to even begin detailing your own car but you do; if you can clean your home, you can detail your car.

Start With Soap

The only logical place to start with your car care makeover is with a good washing. Use car wash soap and a hose and a big sponge; get the car wet first, add the soap and get the car as clean as you can. Be sure to rinse the soap off very well, hosing the car down several times. Leftover soap can make any car look filthy.

Polish It Up

Finish off your soap down with a nice polish. Car polish is relatively cheap and it leaves your car with a nice, clean shine. It is easy to apply, too; it is liquid already so using a towel you can pour it on and buff it to a shine. One coat will do but a true car care makeover would require at least two to maybe three coats of polish.

Wax it Down

If you really want a good, deep shine then you should put some wax on your car. It can really drive things home and bring an unbelievable shine to your vehicle that you probably haven't seen since the showroom days. Two to three coats should do just fine but if you are in a rush one will do as well. The car dealerships use two to three coats though, so if you want to get back to that showroom shine then you should use at least two. This is different from the car polish as it has to be redone much more often, but the shine is much deeper and makes more of an impact.

Don't Forget Your Wheels

Whether you have regular wheels or chrome rims, you should make sure to keep them as clean and shiny as possible—especially if you live in a wintry area where the salt in the roads might corrode your car's lovely wheels. It isn't difficult to care for your rims; even rinsing them off every time you get the chance is a significant step toward preventing corrosion and will allow your wheels to help present your car as the beautiful thing it is.

As long as you are giving your car that shiny new look, how about making the inside match? Grime in your car is not only bad for the look and hygiene, but it can cause damage to your car's interior. Make sure you get the inside of your car cleared of debris.
