Are you Lost in the Daily Grind?

It's funny how we tend to lose the purpose of life in a materialistic world. The feeling of loneliness despite being amidst a crowd is a common situation in the recent times....
As I sat by the seaside looking at the wide expanse of the horizon, I reflected upon the way my day had shaped up so far. The gentle sound of the lapping of the waves on the seashore helped to ease my thoughts and bring about a sense of peace. The day began as usual with the jarring sound of the alarm. This is quite contrary to the chirping of the birds I was so used to! The moment the harsh ringing reached my ears, I knew it was time to begin the routine. Rushing to get ready and gobbling up the breakfast to reach work on time seemed like the only motive for the morning hours. The day followed with intense hours at work often coupled with mugs full of coffee. Work tensions and family issues...somehow the day just flew by, within no time. And now, here I was by the beach side, wondering if it was all worth it! Is the story of your life on similar lines?

There is something we have lost along the way...in this mad rush of the rat race. As someone wisely said, even if you win the rat race, you are still a rat! It is up to us to shape our day the way we desire So, do you choose to remember all the intense meetings at work even after work hours? Do you still end up brooding over something that has happened earlier in the day, week or month, thus affecting your present? Lugging around the luggage of the past is something we all do. Constantly brooding and telling yourself, 'What if I had done this...' is honestly of no use. One needs to learn the importance of the present without bringing in problems of the past. If there is a problem, learn to tackle it. Only then can we truly have a content life and bring more love and happiness to everybody around us!

This is not something I have read in a book. This is something I realized when I watched the beautiful seaside, the gorgeous waves, smelt the salty air and observed pretty birds that flew by lazily. A look at nature reminded me how beautiful things can be...and that's when I decided to make space for beautiful moments in my memory, leaving no chance for any kind of negative thoughts. Nature taught me a lesson and everything else faded into oblivion...This is where I learned the purpose of life!
