Are They the One? - Chapter 2

Nicole and Ashley Evans are regular teenagers who have their ups and downs. Then they start having a crush on their closest friends.
Nicole's Point of View

I smiled slightly as I watched Matt and Kevin walking our way. I couldn't imagine life without those two. I mean, the four of us have been through so much together. You could say we've known each other since we were born/little (whichever you prefer); that's how close we are. Matt Andrews lives across the street from my sister and me; has been ever since I could remember. He has blonde hair, green eyes and a muscular build (He's basically every girl's dreams in this school). Kevin Monte lives a few doors down from Matt (He moved into that house when we were all starting first grade). He is also tall, very muscular and handsome. Very handsome with blonde hair and blue eyes. Although he has nothing on Matt but shhh... let's just keep that between you and me.

"Hey, what's up?" Ashley asks.

"Oh. Umm... Not much. We were just coming to see how our favorite ladies were doing," said Kevin.

I rolled my eyes, "You guys saw us yesterday. What's made you suddenly miss us so much?"

"Just Kevin's mega-huge crush on your sister."

I smirked and glanced at Ashley who was blushing like crazy and then at Kevin who was also the same color.

Ashley laughed, "Look who's talking Matt."

"What are you talking about woman?"

"Hmm... You seriously don't know about your undying love for my sister?" She teased.

Oh man not this argument again. Ashley has this idea that Matt secretly likes me, although he has, like a new girlfriend every month. Me? I just think that's all just bull. I mean, why would Matt go out with me, his soccer buddy, when he could go out with just about any other girl in the school? Speaking of soccer, Ashley seems to have totally forgotten about the soccer practice after school today.

"Don't know what you're talking about." He replied smoothly.

"Well, we better get to homeroom before we're late," I interrupted, begging silently for Ashley to drop this argument and talk about something else that I'll feel more comfortable with. "And Ash, we have soccer practice after school."

Ashley's Point of View

As the four of us walked down the hallway, all I kept thinking was: Oh. My. God. I can't believe Matt just said that. But, hey I guess it is true. I mean, I do like Kevin. He's cute, athletic... wait what am I saying? Kevin is one of my best friends; I've known him since the first day of Grade 1. I can't go out with him. What if it ruined our friendship? ~sigh~ This is all so confusing.

Thinking about the conversation that had happened a few minutes before, I can't stop thinking that Matt really does like my sister. No kidding. I saw the expression that was on his face, after I mentioned his 'undying love for my sister' and there are those stories about Matt liking Nicole, but I can't tell if they are true or not, since we're all best friends and have known each other for a long, long time. According to Kevin though, what everyone's saying are 'rumors' but looking at Matt right now, I'm not too sure.

"And Ash, we have soccer practice after school."

"Darn! I forgot my soccer equipment at home. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to run home to get it after school."

Glancing at my sister's bag or rather bags for the first time today, I noticed that she had her gym bag, where she kept her equipment along with her backpack... and.

"Wait, isn't that my gym bag?"

Grinning she handed it to me.

"You're welcome. I was wondering when you'd notice that I had your gym bag, but since you never said anything about it, I thought I was going to have to just carry it around the whole day."

I smiled back.

"Thanks. You saved me from running home."

Nicole's Point of View

The rest of the day passed by pretty fast for me. Finally the bell rang to signal the end of the school day, and I quickly gathered my notebooks and textbook while talking to Laura, a super nice girl who I'd started hanging out with, during the summer when Ashley had been sick for a few weeks. As I was walking out of the classroom door, I nearly ran into someone who was walking in. Looking up, I saw that it was the new student from America.
