Are Bleeding Hemorrhoids Dangerous?
Although bleeding hemorrhoids are not dangerous, serious attention should be considered before they deteriorate further.
Most people get very agitated and frightened seeing bleeding hemorrhoids in the rectum. Especially if it's their first time.
Now it's not as serious as one thinks as long as the bleeding is actually from the hemorrhoid and not from somewhere else. So what I am saying is that it is of utmost importance to be sure of the source of the bleeding. If unsure or slightly in doubt, I would highly recommend that you see a medical doctor for a confirmation of diagnosis. This is imperative as it is known that hemoroids can be confused with other more serious ailments.
However the most important sign to recognize that the bleeding is indeed from hemorrhoids, is that the blood must be bright red in color. Whether you are experiencing bleeding from internal hemorrhoids or external hemorrhoids, the blood must be and is always bright red in color. If any other color, it is not hemorrhoids.
Bleeding hemorrhoids are not dangerous. This is how they behave normally. What happens is that a pocket of blood forms inside the vein in the anus area. Then when you exert pressure on them .Usually caused from passing a hard bowel movement. This pocket will break, and the blood will pour out. This can happen outside the anus with external hemorrhoids or just inside the anus with internal hemorrhoids.
It is also very common that hemorrhoids bleed for weeks. This is again caused by irritating the hemorrhoids with bowel movements, sitting, standing etc.....just like a cut keeps bleeding if continually irritated.
However, if left unattended they can cause more discomfort and could become infected. So it is best to treat the source of the hemorrhoids immediately and effectively.
I will however be repetitive and say one more time that you should get these hemorrhoids checked by a professional and make sure that you have bleeding hemorrhoids and not something else.
