Apprciate What You Got

Appreciate what you got
That's what I've learned
I've lived 13 years I've had to shed some tears
But what I learned is no matter what
Appreciate what you got
I've learned this lesson many ways
One way,

You never know what you got until its gone
I never really appreciated my dad as much as I do now
Until he had to leave
It was the longest time I had ever been away from him
I never knew how much I needed him as part of my life
Now I appreciate what I have with my dad
But the people who really taught me are
My friends

Some of them really have it tough
One of them saw someone get shot
Another couldn't pay for what he bought
One watched his cousin get shot down
Now he lives with a permanent frown
One well she got problems with her dad
Let's just say that ones sad

Having heard all these stories makes me appreciate what I got
I may not have it perfect
But I have it better than that
It comes to show you should
Appreciate what you got
Cuz there is always someone out there who has it worse
And it's no curse
It's life
