Apart

A quick poem I wrote about regrets and looking back...reminiscing...
When you walk away from me,
I watch every small stride,
I feel alone, broken, halved,
Like a shore away from it's tide,
When I see your eyes reflected,
In the cool mirror of my heart,
It reminds me of the sparkle they held,
Whenever we were apart,
I remember all the pain i felt,
Because of how you treat me,
I remember every spasm of hurt,
Our goodbye allowed me to see,
I remember how you used to talk,
Words flowing into the night,
The sweet contentment we shared,
Before fondness turned to fights,
I remember your sloping smile,
How it lit up even the darkest day,
I remember the way we danced,
With our own little flaunting sway,
Most of all, the thoughts that haunt me
Are those of our bitter yet sweet embrace,
As we said goodbye that night,
And you left without a trace,
I remember the tears adorning my face,
The white hot pain of living apart,
The crying into nights on a cold bed,
The sound of my splitting, breaking heart,
As it beat an irregular rhythm
Without yours by its side,
I regret the willingness with which
I let you come you inside...
And if ever you should come back to me,
I will not even speak,
For words turn into kisses,
And your kisses make me weak.
