Anti-Aging a Common Topic at the Masters Golf Tournament
Golfers know quite a bit about the sun. They play 18 holes of grueling golf matches in the hot sun almost every weekend. The smart ones protect their eyes with the best eye protection available: sunglasses.
The Masters was yet another classic duel between some of the great names in golf. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson's late surges weren't enough to make the sudden death playoff this past weekend. However, a great round ended for Kenny Perry when Angel Cabrera beat him on the second sudden-death hole this past weekend in Augusta, Georgia.
Everywhere I looked, I saw people out there with anti-aging on their minds. As the camera panned the gallery, I saw men and women of all ages, but typically on the 40 Plus side, applying what appeared to be sunblock. Yes, it can be rough out there in the hot spring heat up in Georgia. The heat isn't kind to the skin, and the skin needs to be protected.
Pro golfers, caddies, and fans alike all sported eye wear. I am sure some of them were just trying to appear fashionable and weren't really thinking of the anti-aging qualities that eye protection provides. Caddies, I assume, wear the sunglasses in order to better track the ball as it goes high up in the air and lands somewhere downwind about 300 yards, on average. Fans probably use the same line of thought as they track the balls hit off the tee.
Golf takes quite some time to finish a round. At times, rounds can take up to 6 or more hours. That heat takes a toll on the skin, and it really is necessary to watch out for the sun and think of the best anti-aging products to keep around the skin and eye area. Think about this: the major tournaments, like the Masters, play four consecutive days. Anyone who makes the cut, that is, plays Saturday and Sunday and essentially is exposed to nearly eight hours of sun during each day, when you count the practice time and time spent around the clubhouse before and after the rounds.
Add in the practice rounds and course tours on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and you probably have nearly 50 hours of direct sun exposure each week, per player and caddy! If there is one demographic that should be applying an anti-aging skin cream, I would have to say that professional golfers is a perfect one!
So golfers, keep that in mind. You are in the sun much more than you think, and it can do some serious damage to you if you do not think about your skin when you are out there. Remember to always keep your skin in your mind, and think about how you can protect it from the sun.
