Anne Hathaway’s Ex Hospitalized

Follieri, 29, is currently in a world of trouble. He has been charged with a dozen counts of wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering, Hathaway recently broke off their almost four year relationship, and now he is in the hospital being treated for a severe sinus infection. It has also been reported that Follieri tested positive for opiates from a drug test taken Tuesday morning before his court hearing. Melanie Bonvichino, Follieri’s spokesperson said, "He had an episode in the courtroom which led to him being transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. I do not have the specifics on what type of treatment at this time, but (it’s) for a severe sinus infection."

Bonvichino also said that his illness led to a positive drug test for opiates. She said, "(Follieri has had) a sinus infection for the past three weeks. He was on a prescription and cough medicine from his doctors that contained codeine before retiring to bed that night. Therefore, that is what his doctors told me caused his urine test to be positive." Follieri was placed on home detention Tuesday until he can post a $21 million bail. He has been ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and is only able to leave his apartment for "legal, medical or religious reasons."

Follieri is accused of claiming to work as the chief financial officer for the Vatican. He reportedly told his business partners that he could purchase different U.S. properties that were owned by the Catholic Church at a lower market rate. He reportedly bilked people out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and used the money to live a very extravagant lifestyle. Hathaway broke off their relationship earlier this month.
