Animal Testing Cons

Man is a very curious species and this curiosity has led to his evolution and development into what he is today. In science, being the backbone of all this development, there are millions of experiments which are carried out every day all over the world, for various types of studies. When these experiments have a human application to their results, there are animals that are used to check its effects. Therefore, the definition of animal testing is the experiments and research which is carried in vivo (inside) the animal's body to see the results in them. If the results are positive in the animals only then are they used for human application.

Throughout the world it is assumed that there are about 50 to 100 million animals used per year for these animal testing experiments. These range from types of fish to non-human primates (monkeys). Cons

• Even though the above mentioned pros are taken into consideration, because animals are the only way of testing new invented products.
• There are also debates about killing animals for the sake of testing products being completely unethical.
• Many a time when the experiments fail, there is complete loss of animal life, and some scientists in renowned institutes use these animals very liberally.
• Another animal testing cons is that it is very expensive to carry experiments on animals, therefore it should not be considered.
• From the animal testing facts it is also assumed that, most of these testing animals die due to human errors occur either in the concentration of the drug or the amount. This again is considered as wastage of life.
