Dr. Michael Sussman reported Sunday, "The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly. Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well." The babies were born by Cesarean section Saturday evening. At approximately 6:27 p.m. Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born a minute apart. Knox weighed in at 5.03 pounds and Vivienne at 5 pounds. Sussman reportedly said, "The mother and father are very, very happy."

Jolie checked into the hospital at the end of June in preparation for the birth of the twins. She reportedly reserved four rooms on the maternity ward and there is a bodyguard standing watch at all times. Last week, Sussman reported that the twins were due "in the weeks to come" and the C-section was allegedly "moved forward" so that the birth would take place "in the best conditions. Jolie is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days.

Knox and Vivienne make 6 kids for Jolie, 33, and Pitt, 44. The twins join big brothers and sisters Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2. Recently Jolie said in an interview that she was "surprised" to find out she was having twins. Jolie said, "It did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly." She added, "But we like a challenge." Both Jolie and Pitt have talked about the fact that they want more kids – biological or adopted – so this may not be the end for them.
