An Ozzie Twist

Most Americans, if they think of Australia at all, vaguely recall it as that land ‘down under’ – where everything is upside down. They celebrate Christmas in summer, for Pete’s sake. The Yanks may be on to something.

Here’s another example. In testosterone-driven America and most of Europe, it’s the man who is willing to play any angle to get some sex – either free or paid for. Turns out, some Ozzies like to live up to their reputation and turn things upside down.

Beth Morgan, 32-year-old town planner in the steel-and-surfing city of Wollongong, south of Sydney, was on a "mission for sex" in return for approvals of high-rise buildings under her jurisdiction. According to three prominent developers in the area – and verified by the powerful Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) - Morgan, gave approval for millions of dollars worth of unlawful city building developments in return for gifts and affairs. She wasn’t bashful about it either. Investigators of the ICAC have uncovered photographs of the stylish Morgan and the men she pursued, receiving from them cameras, cash payments, a China holiday and designer handbags. In addition, they have documented lurid details of emails and phone messages between Morgan and her alleged lovers.

Now take a look at the accompanying photo of the lady in question. OK, so she’s no hottie, but she’s no skank either. A lot of guys would gladly accept what she’s offering – for free – and she had to bribe them to give her some? I’ll never figure out those Ozzies.
