An Obvious Deceit
The town's beautiful girl and her dark past.

Hidden by that veil, as you know.
You thought that would disguise your feelings,
A hoarded apple and its peelings.
But, I saw through your sheltered, small lies,
By the dark glint of black in your eyes.
So, as you stroll these streets of sorrow,
You’ll never see such joy tomorrow.
People see, as I see, your sweet ruse,
And turn away from those that you choose.
It’s obvious to all that you meet,
You’re not hiding your precious deceit.
So, as you walk past me this last time,
My eyes glean knowing your petty crime.
You can’t fool me with your subtle tricks,
I’ve known all about your savvy mix.
Your beauty cannot hide your true self,
So, place your vanity on a shelf.
All of your victims have now cried out,
Everyone knows what you’re all about.
Please, don’t look back as you pass me by,
I’d hate to see a grown woman cry.
Continue on and try to save face,
You’ll never know this as a safe place.
