Amy Winehouse’s Husband to Stay in Jail
Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has spent the past nine months behind bars and was recently sentenced to another 18 months in jail.

Fielder-Civil, 26, was sentenced to 27 months in prison for pleading guilty to causing "grievous bodily harm" to pub manager James King in a barroom fight in 2006. Fielder-Civil also admitted to conspiracy charges for attempting to bribe King with $400,000 in exchange for him withdrawing his testimony. Judge David Radford said that Fielder-Civil had acted in a "gratuitous, cowardly and disgraceful" manner. He has already spent the past nine months behind bars and will spend the next 18 months at London's Pentonville Prison.
Winehouse, 24, and Fielder-Civil were married in May 2007. Six months later he was arrested on the assault charges. Winehouse was questioned by the police to determine if she had any part of the conspiracy to bribe King. It was determined that she was not involved in the plot. Winehouse was not in court on Monday when her husband was sentenced.
Winehouse’s father, Mitch, has said that he feels it might be beneficial for Fielder-Civil to remain behind bars so he does not return to a life of drugs. The couple has had a tumultuous marriage riddled with drug use. They were arrested last October in Bergen, Norway on charges of marijuana possession. Since he has been behind bars, Winehouse has struggled with drug use, entered a rehabilitation center briefly, and it has been reported that she is suffering from the early stages of emphysema. Mitch Winehouse said of Fielder-Civil and his daughter, ""If he comes out and they go back to doing what they were doing before, she's going to have a serious health problem. He's a fit young man, he could probably carry on like this for the rest of his life. Amy can't and he has to understand that."
