Amy Winehouse’s Husband Out of Jail, Into Rehab
Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, after a sting in jail for beating up a pub manager, is out from behind bars and in the friendly confines of a drug rehab clinic.
Blake Fielder-Civil, husband of drug-riddled British singer Amy Winehouse, was released from jail yesterday, but Winehouse missed the reunion she was hoping for when Fielder-Civil apparently checked into drug rehabilitation. For his release, Winehouse didn’t make it to the prison where her husband was held, instead choosing to stay home in Camden (London) after being treated for a chest infection last week.
Fielder-Civil, a former video assistant, married Winehouse in Miami, Florida in 2007 and has since then been a relatively constant part of the drug-induced haze of Winehouse’s life, much of which is often played out in public via viral video distribution and tabloid accounts. Fielder-Civil was sentenced to 27 months in jail after admitting to assaulting a pub manager during a fight that occurred in 2006. Because he served nine months prior to the time when his sentence was passed, and because his sentence was ultimately shortened, he was out of prison early but, per the terms of his release, was forced to immediately check himself into rehab – ironic, given the subject of one of Winehouse’s best-known songs, in which she wails, "they try to make me go to rehab…I say no, no, no!"
Currently, Winehouse is still basking in the glow of the five Grammy awards she won earlier in the year, all of which came from her work on the "Back to Black" album, but continues to fight a well-publicized battle with drug addiction and various illnesses resulting from her heavy use of illicit drugs.
