Winehouse, 24, was reportedly trying to get a Visa so she could appear at this year’s Grammy Awards where she was expected to perform and is up for six Grammy nominations. Even though her Visa was denied it has been reported that the singer will perform and accept any awards via satellite. Winehouse’s publicist released a statement Thursday that read, "The singer has been invited to appear at the event on Sunday after receiving an amazing six nominations for the prestigious awards. Unfortunately, her application for a visa to enter the United States of America has been rejected at this time by the American Embassy in London."
The statement continued, "Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago, and although disappointed with the decision, has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery. Amy has been treated well and fairly by the Embassy staff and thanks everyone for their support in trying to make this happen. There will of course be other opportunities and she very much looks forward to visiting America in the near future." The troubled singer is up for six nominations including Best New Artist and Album and Song of the Year.
Winehouse entered rehab two weeks ago after a video of her smoking a pipe and inhaling the fumes began circling the Internet. It was reported that the pipe contained crack cocaine. She was also allegedly seen on the tape snorting cocaine and ecstasy and saying that she had taken 6 valium. She voluntarily entered the rehab facility and is reportedly trying to get her life straightened out. It was recently reported that the police are investigating Winehouse and the videotape.
