Amy Winehouse "Close to Death" Twice According to Her Father

Amy Winehouse almost died twice according to her father and, despite being apparently drug free, now faces the prospect of a divorce from her prison-bound husband.
Amy Winehouse has been in the news quite a bit of late, but none of that news is particularly positive. According to Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, "She was close to death twice. We have been working a lot to get her to where she is right now." The elder Winehouse, who claims that his daughter is now drug-free, was interviewed extensively for an upcoming documentary to be titled "Saving Amy." Mitch Winehouse also noted that while the media gleefully reported the downfall of his daughter, "They didn’t see her lying in bed for days in a dark room."

As her health comes crumbling down in concert with her drug use, Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil also is seeking a divorce. Speaking on that matter, her father noted that "I had to call Amy before she heard about it from someone else. She asked me, ‘Daddy, why does he want to divorce me?’ I said, ‘You know I don’t like him, but I have to admit that your behavior with another man is not what marriage is all about.’"

Blake, who is currently in jail after breaking the terms of his bail conditions from a previous stint in prison, is seeking the divorce after evidence, including photos, showed that Winehouse was having an affair with Josh Bowman, a rugby player. Winehouse, who doesn’t wish to see the divorce go through, has claimed that "I still love my Blake. I won’t let him divorce me. He’s still in jail but the moment he comes out I’ll be there waiting for him."
