Amy Winehouse Checks into Rehab
It has been confirmed that troubled songstress Amy Winehouse has checked into a drug rehabilitation facility.

Winehouse, 24, allegedly voluntarily entered the undisclosed facility after a disturbing video of her bingeing on drugs hit the Internet. Universal Music Group released a statement Thursday that said, "Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family, and doctors. Amy entered the facility by mutual agreement and continues to receive the full support of all involved." The statement continued, "She has come to understand that she requires special treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards."
The video was released Tuesday and was reportedly taken early last Friday morning at Winehouse’s London home. The video shows the "Rehab" singer inhaling fumes from a lit pipe, claiming that she had just taken 6 Valium, and shows her searching for her cat. The video was released by Britain’s Sun tabloid which claims they also have footage of Winehouse snorting cocaine and ecstasy. A spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed Wednesday that they were in possession of the tape and were investigating whether or not to take action against the singer.
Winehouse’s father, Mitch, reportedly told the Sun that he was glad the tape had been made. The elder Winehouse reportedly told the tabloid, "Your video of Amy taking drugs may well be the best thing that has ever happened to her. For all the hurt and pain, it may finally be the thing to focus her mind and convince her to get the help she needs to quit for good." Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, remains jailed awaiting his trial for witness tampering. Who knows…by the time he gets out of jail his wife could be clean!
