Winehouse’s U.S. spokesperson reportedly said in a statement, "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year." The arrest stems from video footage of Winehouse, 24, allegedly smoking crack cocaine in her London home in January 2008. The video was obtained by The Sun newspaper and subsequently turned over to the authorities.
In the video, Winehouse is seen smoking from a pipe and inhaling some kind of fumes. On the video she is also seen searching for her cat and tells people that she has taken 6 Valium. It was also reported that Winehouse can be seen snorting a white substance off of a credit card in a portion of the video that was not released. After the video was released, Winehouse checked into a rehabilitation facility at the urging of her family and record label. She remained in rehab for two weeks before checking herself out. And it was quickly reported that she was back to her old ways again.
Winehouse was arrested on April 25 in another incident when she was charged with assault after head-butting a man outside of a bar in London. She reportedly spent the night at the station and was released the next morning. She has not been formally charged with any crimes stemming from that offense, but if convicted, she faces up to six months in jail on the assault charges.
