Winehouse, 24, allegedly head butted a man outside a London pub early on April 23. On Friday she reported to a London police station where she was questioned and subsequently arrested. A Scotland Yard spokesperson reportedly said, "I can confirm that a 24-year old woman has been arrested by appointment at a central London police station and is currently in custody." Winehouse has reportedly not been formally charged with any crimes. If she is convicted, Winehouse faces up to six months in jail on the assault charges.
An unidentified 38-year old man reported that Winehouse head butted him when he tried to hail her a cab outside a club in London at approximately 3:20 a.m. It was also reported that she punched another man in the face and smoked drugs out in public. It has been rumored that Winehouse mistakenly thought the man was trying to "grope" her and did not realize he was trying to hail her a cab.
Reportedly Winehouse did show up at the police station voluntarily but was two hours late for her appointment. A source said that she "looked a mess" when spotted on her way to the station. She was reportedly very upset and crying. Said the source, "She was crying and moaning – makeup smudged all over her face." Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil is currently in jail on charges of witness tampering stemming from an early assault arrest. He was in court Friday morning, just a few hours before his wife was arrested. She did not attend the hearing. Fielder-Civil, 25, has been in jail since November and will reportedly remain there until at least June 9. His assault trial is due to begin on June 2.
