American Idol Heartthrob David Archuleta Turns Eighteen
Women around the world are rejoicing as David Archuleta reaches his eighteenth birthday and officially enters adulthood - at least from a legal standpoint.
David Archuleta, last year's American Idol runner-up, captured the hearts and imaginations of women of all ages from around the world. His pleasant demeanor and strong singing voice were more than enough to make him the most "attractive" contestant for most of the show's viewership.
And now, David Archuleta is eighteen. And while that is big news for big-dreaming twenty-somethings and mildly disturbed thirty-somethings, it's actually bad news for the tweens and teens under eighteen who pine for young David. Now that he's eighteen, his handlers will likely prefer him to only have relationships with women older than eighteen. No sense risking any legal issues by dating minors, now that Archuleta is legally an adult.
David is staying relevant and in the public eye with various holiday appearances and working the talk-show circuit. He is likely going to be back for the upcoming season of American Idol, appearing as a celebrity singer to coach or perform with the new contestants.
Archuleta signed with Jive records in June 2008 and his first single, Crush was released in August on a New York radio station. After hitting iTunes, it rose to #1 within 18 hours and debuted at #2 on Billboard's Hot 100.
