Always There For You - Chapter 6

It happened while Amelia and Jamal were eating in the KFC, sitting down and chatting. Jamal turned his head and saw Flo and Xander walk in, they went straight to the counter and didn't see him, neither did Amelia see them.

Instead of tell Amelia they were there he had an idea, he waited until Xander and Flo sat down with their trays and then he told Amelia he was going to the loos.

Jamal passed their table and tapped Flo on the shoulder as he passed, she looked up and Jamal gestured for her to follow him, she made sure Xander hadn't seen him and then excused herself for the toilets.

Jamal grabbed her into the corridor outside the loos and whispered in her ear, she was nodding the whole time and smiled at certain parts. His plan was sure to work, it was so clever.

Flo whispered something to him, and then walked back to her table and continued to eat her food with Xander, leaving Jamal to put the first part of the plan into action.

*PLAN A*

"Let's go on that rollercoster we saw, the big white one" Jamal said to Amelia, Amelia stared at him as if he had two heads.
"Are you mad, that ones in the dark, in a cavey thing, what if collapses on our heads? What then huh?"
Jamal sighed "Why are you so paranoid today babe?" it was true, ever since they had arrived at the theme park she had been acting like everything was gonna kill her. She raised an eyebrow
"Because, babe, I hate rollercoasters!" Jamal shrugged "So, I hate them too, but they're fun, come on" he stood up and Amelia sighed and followed him.

They walked to the 'cavey thing' and surprisingly there was only a small line of about five people. Two minutes later they were standing in front of a luminous green cart, the cart was the only thing they could see, it was really dark. Amelia climbed in slowly, and sat down waiting for Jamal.

His voice came from somewhere in the dark "One minute, let me put my phone away" and she heard more footsteps and then someone climbed in next to her. Their safety bar swung down over them and Amelia gripped on for dear life as the carts started to move at snails pace across the tracks.

A laugh from next to her caught her attention, it didn't sound like Jamal. "You got a cold babe?", a sharp intake of breathe and then a mumbled "Jesus Christ". Even though it was only a mumble, Amelia heard it and she'd recognize that voice anywhere, she been hearing it since she was a kid.

A frown creased her brow as the carts sped up,
"Xander?" she asked.
"Yep, what are you doing on this car Amelia?" Amelia huffed.
"I should be asking you the same thing, Jamal was meant to sit there"
"No, Flo was-"

He was interrupted as their car dipped down sharply and Amelia screamed, he could feel her shaking when the cars started to move up instead of down and he had an urge to hold her hand. He fumbled for it, and she didn't pull away, instead she gripped it like it was the safety bar.

The carts were on a straight track, for the time-being.
"Well I don't care who was meant to be sitting in the damn cart, Ames, I’m sorry about what I said" he couldn't see Amelia's face to gauge her reaction.

"I'm sorry too, I really shouldn't of said what I did, and just for the record, you're not a stupid bastard" Xander chuckled and opened his mouth to speak when, the cars dipped again, and threw them back in their seats and Amelia screamed.

The cars started moving up again and then they swung dangerously to the side, then down again. It was a pattern for the next five minutes. Up, down, up, side, down and then over again until the carts swung back into the starting point and the safety bars raised up.

Quickly Amelia jumped out, climbing over him and ran out the cave, he was shaking a bit himself but not from the ride. The ride was for pussies, it was nothing, he was shaking from what just happened. Two months without hearing her voice, without feeling her touch, without hearing her infectious laugh, seeing her beautiful face, smelling her wonderful scent had kind of destroyed his soul. Now he got to do all of them at once and it was fabulous, he had missed her.

He followed her out into the open, and heard her retching before he saw her. As he followed the sound he saw Jamal holding back her hair as she bent over the mud and leaves. Flo appeared in front of him and smiled, "All right?" he nodded and pointed at Amelia.
"Oh, poor Ames, she really hates rollercoaters doesn't she?" again Xander nodded and they stood there watching as Jamal handed Ames some tissues and hugged her.

Amelia turned and smiled at Xander and his stomach flipped, Jamal and Flo seemed to melt away and Amelia linked arms with him like they used to and they walked and talked. About what had happened since they 'broke up' and universities and things. Then the conversation came to their argument and Amelia started feeling weird, she wanted to tell him about her lies but then he might hate her again.

In the end it was Xander who approached the subject.
"You know, um, when you said that...you had-"
Amelia nodded "Yeah, Xander I’m really sorry, i shouldn't have said that to you. It was a lie, all lies. You just, really made me angry".
Xander couldn't help but smile, and his shoulders relaxed.
"Well, next time don't say it again, when you left me and Flo kinda got...comfy" Amelia glared at him.
"Only cos you said that, and i wanted to make you even more angry, but don't worry we didn't do anything" he rushed.
They were friends again, it felt brilliant. Xander never could talk to anyone like he could to Ames, and visa versa.

Flo and Jamal were behind them, hanging back so they could have their privacy and talk, and they were talking about things themselves. Although you couldn’t really call it talking, more like flirting, a lot of flirting. Since their other halfs couldn't see them, it couldn't harm them, besides it was only flirting not like a real affair or anything. And it wouldn't come to that, would it?
