Allergy Drugs to Treat Allergy

Allergy drugs are used to treat allergic conditions. Allergy is a condition where the human body is prone to some kind of irritation and other ill effects that are developed as a result of dislike to some products. The common types of allergy include swelling in the skin or the eye, itchy skin, redness of the eyes and nasal path, etc. In some cases, people can suffer from extreme respiratory disorders too which can ultimately lead to death.
There are several compounds that cause allergy are pollen, food substances, fungus, dust, medicinal drugs, etc. While in some people, the allergy shows up as itches or skin irritation while in others it gets severe. Thus one should never take allergy light. You should at least prevent it from occurring to ensure the safety of your body system.

There are different methods to treat allergy. However, allergy drugs can do a good job with it. Though it may not last long, it can give you relief for the time being at least. We will briefly see how antihistamines and decongestants work to produce that long lasting relief from allergy.

Antihistamines:
Antihistamines block the histamines that are developed in the body due to the immediate reaction of getting in contact with allergens. Histamines are the ones that are directly produced in the body as a reaction towards allergens. These cause the bloating of blood cells. This is what is known to cause swelling and other skin related problems. Antihistamines arrest the allergy causing symptoms and let your body recover immediately from such attacks. Though antihistamines are so effective, they seem to get you too drowsy. Recently, you can avail antihistamines that do not cause this drowsiness in you.

Decongestants:
These are chemical compounds that come in the form of spray, or liquid drops, or as pills meant for the treatment of eye and nasal allergies. They are often used with antihistamines to control allergy.

Decongestants act on the swollen cells and help in shrinking them thus reducing the swelling or any other allergy symptoms caused in the nasal path or the eyes. However, using allergy drugs can lead to an increase in the blood pressure. Insomnia is also possible with the usage of decongestants. Of course, you should know how much is right for your body system and it is always better to take the prescribed dosage so that you will not have to face the consequences of over dosage.

Allergy drugs:
An appropriate ratio of decongestants and antihistamines is what it takes to make the best allergy drug. In fact, most of the allergy drugs you find in the market consist of antihistamine. Some other allergy drugs consist of antihistamines and decongestants to target multiple allergy symptoms.

While choosing the right drug for you, it is necessary that you take physicians' advice before you can do so. You never know which chemical can aggravate your allergy. Hence, it is the best option to go by prescription of doctor.
