Cynthia Rodriguez, 35, filed for divorce in Miami Monday and blames her husband’s repeated infidelity for the end of the marriage. In the divorce petition an attorney for Cynthia wrote, "Alex has emotionally abandoned his wife and children, and has left her with no choice but to divorce him." The petition also says that the marriage is "irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct."
She is reportedly seeking primary residential custody of the couple’s children 3-year old Natasha and 3-month old Ella. She would like the custody to be shared with Rodriguez, 32. She also wants to retain their home in Coral Gables, receive alimony, life and health insurance, private school tuition, and equal distribution of the couple’s assets. One of her lawyers said that she is "tremendously traumatized and devastated."
There have reportedly been a number of indiscretions on Rodriguez’s part, but the recent rumors of an affair with Madonna were allegedly the "last straw" for Cynthia. Madonna has not been named in the divorce papers and she has come forward and denied any wrongdoing. She reportedly released a statement to People that read, "I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage." It has also been rumored that Cynthia is romantically involved with rocker Lenny Kravitz. Her lawyer has said the relationship is "totally innocent" and Kravitz has flat out denied the rumors. Rodriguez has reportedly not commented on the divorce filing.
