Alaska Travel: Hotels in Anchorage

About a travel to Alaska and hotels in Anchorage
Every summer Alaska is invaded by a huge number of vacationers interested in enjoying its natural beauty, rich wildlife and genuine Indian culture alike. All this people travel to the largest state of the USA in different ways. Some tourists take a cruise to Alaska and relax on luxury ships a few days, having chance to see majestic glaciers floating around their vessel (at a safe distance, of course!) or observing pieces of ice breaking down in the cold water, generating impressive waves and making seals jumping away!

Other travelers choose a more comfortable way and take airplanes to Anchorage, from where they are spreading out in the entire state and enjoy different vacation activities like whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, scenic drives (some of the best drives are on the Copper River Road in the Prince William Sound region and the Denali Highway in the Western Interior region), whale watching, bird watching (there are 437 bird species!) or other wildlife viewing, to not speaking about local cruises like a cruise to the Inside Passage or a Gulf of Alaska route. Finally, the most adventurous holiday makers choose to cross British Columbia or the Yukon Territory (both belonging to Canada) by car, motorbike or even by bicycle and to get in hotels in Alaska after a few days of magnificent nature sightseeing!

All this people need accommodation, so there have been developed a large number of lodging units. Some bigger cities features a few hotels and motels, while in the rest of the territory are available many vacation rentals like homes, cabins, cottages, fishing lodges or chalet.

Hotels in Anchorage are the best in Alaska and feature comfortable accommodation, great amenities and good services offered by very friendly staffs. Even if Anchorage is the capital city of the state, it doesn't feature so many luxury hotels as other main vacation spots in the USA, still there are really great hotels like Hotel Alyeska Resort, Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage (both having 4 stars), Hotel Quality Inn Airport, Hotel Days Inn Downtown Anchorage, or Hotel Red Roof Inn Anchorage, all this featuring 3 stars.

Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska and accommodate more than 40 percent of the population. It is a great base to travel and explore other regions of Alaska due to its location in the south-central region. From there tourists can take longer or shorter trips to the Alaska Peninsula, Kodiak Island, Cook Inlet, Kenai Peninsula, Prince William Sound, Alaska Panhandle, or to Mount McKinley and Denali National Park. Nature lovers don't need to go far away to see rich wildlife because in the surrounding area of capital city live a multitude of terrestrial animal species like black bears, grizzly bears, moose, wolves, beaver, fox and countless bird species.

People interested in cultural vacations can take visits to Alaska Native Heritage Center, Alaska Museum of Natural History, Anchorage Aviation Heritage Museum, Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, Oscar Anderson House Museum, or Wells Fargo Alaska Heritage Library and Museum. There are also available some other recreational points of interest such as Alaska Native Heritage Center, the Alaska Botanical Garden, Alaska Zoo, Delaney Park Strip, or Point Woronzof Park, while winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy some great skiing in the Alpenglow Ski Area or Hilltop Ski Area.

No matter if tourists take a cruise to Alaska, a plane or travel on wheels, vacations spent in this state are really magic and leave in all people's souls and mind unforgettable memories. Holidays spent in hotels in Anchorage or vacation rentals settled in other regions of Alaska are so rewarding that most travelers are already thinking on the way to home how to get back faster!
