Everyone one is quite fascinated with the aura that surrounds uniformed personnel. There is something about the look in their eyes and the dynamic posture that simply commands respect. All this comes after grueling training and a tough mind set. Some say you are literally broken, conditioned into a tougher and more stable person at boot camps. An air force boot camp is one such training camp that every airman has to experience.

If you have enlisted for the air force, then you know that the camp awaits you. It is best to know as much as possible before you walk into one. The only way to survive the boot camp is to be prepared to face anything. Air force boot camp is considered much simpler as compared to marine boot camps or the military booth camps. This boot camp compared to the other two, is designed to make an individual tough and strong minded. One who is capable of making difficult decisions in demanding situations.

The camp is 8 weeks of rigorous training. Don't expect to be treated with love and affection there. Waking up at unearthly hours, countless sit ups and push ups, a drill sergeant/ training instructor who only yells are some of the things that you need to get used to. Watch any military movie and the training that you witness, is nothing compared to what actually happens. To prepare yourself for this, it is best to follow boot camp training workouts before you step into the world of extreme conditioning.

Air Force Boot Camp Requirements

For an air force boot camp graduation there are strict regulations that need to be adhered to. The biggest problem at the camp for women is their hair. The hair must not be faddish and conspicuous. They need to be neatly set. Many women cut their hair short to a length which is not longer than the collar. Some women do sport longer hair and usually make a bun but wearing a kevlar and a mask can be difficult.

The best way to survive the camp is to be fully prepared before joining. It means get off your lazy butt and burn the baby fat. The camp training is very rigorous. After passing the basic training one graduates from the boot camp and continues to advance individual training. The training is tested according to the number of push-ups and sit-ups completed in one minute and the time taken to complete the 1.5 mile run. There are three levels where one can complete the training, that is liberator, the thunderbolt and the war hawk. The war hawk, being the best, for which the men need to do 75 push-ups, 80 sit-ups, 10 pull-ups and complete the run in 8:08 minutes and the females need to complete the run in 10:55 minutes, 40 push-ups, 75 sit-ups and 5 pull-ups. In the last week, the cadets are officially known as airmen. After the graduation ceremony, they proceed on to the tech school. To survive the boot camp one needs to be mentally conditioned to be tough, don't give in, no matter what. These eight weeks of boot camp training will completely change the way you live, sleep and think, and trust me, for the better.

Ask any air force personnel, the camp is more than just a training ground. It is more of an institute that makes its way into your heart through the sweat of your hard efforts. At the end of the day, you will be proud of your achievement and will finally understand the secret behind the uniformed aura. After all you yourself earned it!
