Time Your Diet
Follow the golden adage - breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper. In case of adrenal fatigue, our body cells consume a large amount of stored nutrients, resulting in fatigue. Hence it is important to have an early breakfast. Our body quickly converts food into energy, which makes it important to eat every two hours. Make sure the brunch is loaded with nutritious food. Make foods that boost your immune system, a part of your daily diet.
Go Green
Vegetables form an integral part. Vegetables provide high amount of fiber, essential vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and antioxidants. Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, cauliflower, green and black olives, carrots and spinach are healthy foods that can also strengthen the immune system. You should include a large serving of a wide variety of vegetables in your meal, especially those which are brightly colored, (bright green, red). One should prefer organic vegetables that are free from chemicals ,dyes and artificial colors.
Fruits
People should avoid fruits in the morning. Fruits like figs and raisins which have fructose and potassium in high quantities should be avoided as they are not good for adrenal glands. Avoid fruit juices, but fruits like cherries, kiwi, apples, grapes, papaya, mango, oranges can be consumed in small servings.
Proteins
Good amount of protein intake during breakfast and lunch will boost your energy throughout the day; it will also help you maintain your blood sugar, which can help you whelm your lust for caffeine and sugar. Meat, fish, fowl, eggs and dairy products are good sources of protein while veggies can also improve protein intake from various plant sources like soy, nuts ,seeds and legumes. Avoid eating processed, packaged meats and cheeses. A healthy diet can help in boosting energy levels. Make soups as various vegetable soups can help in restoring vital nutrients in the body and overcoming it.
Salt Intake
Craving for salt is common. You should have salt in moderate quantities. People with low blood pressure should increase salt intake. Use sea salt as there are many benefits. Increasing your salt intake will help induce sodium and vital minerals in the body, which in turn will help reduce muscle weakness, increased thirst and lethargy and also regularize your heart rate.
Drink Healthy
Alter your habit of drinking coffee by replacing it with green tea, barley grass drinks or various mixed green drinks. Avoid coffee and aerated drinks as they stress the adrenal glands. Maintain good hygiene and follow good eating habits with regular meals and snacks.

People with adrenal fatigue should remember that it's good to know what to avoid eating. Here is what not to eat.

- Alcohol - I don't need to specify the ill-effects of alcoholism.
- Soft Drinks - Don't be soft on soft drinks.
- Caffeine - I can't work without it though!
- Hydrogenated oils and its products.
- Fried Foods - Ah! I can already smell them.
- Excess Sugar - That's not(?) sweet.
- Chocolate - That's tough to resist, I know.
Apart from strictly following the diet, always have positive thoughts in your mind while you eat. Avoid anger, grief and unhealthy thoughts while eating. Eat with people who make you happy. Eat in a clean and hygienic environment. Avoid eating in a hurry. Don't just swallow, chew the food well.
